A touch of music goes a long way

Score: 8/10 - silver award

"..synthPond makes composing even the most delicate of tunes very simple. Anyone can dive into this unique synthesizer and have fun creating tunes without a lesson in music theory..."

I love the cause and effect placement of notes within the “pond” which allows for infinite audible combination. The interface is incredibly minimal yet super effective, there are some lessons to be had here for our UI designers out there.

This is a must download for any audio / synth nerd. Im using the lite version now and having lots of fun with it, I’m sure I will be downloading the full app soon.

"synthPond makes for beautiful sound ripples.
Score: 8/10 Price: $1.99
SynthPond gives people with no previous knowledge of music the ability to create beautiful, ambient, soothing synth loops. It uses a color-based notation system, a sequencer referred to as color sentences and a series of concentric “pond-like” circles with resonating notes placed inside them as a panning and timing system.
SynthPond might sound complex at first, but it only takes a few seconds of toying around with the app to understand how it works."

"synthPond is kind of beautiful, its a musical sequencer-cum-toy for the iPhone, in which you place nodes in a field, or pond.
Move the notes around and you’ll create all kinds of laid-back “ambient” melodies. Additionally, because all the nodes are spatially organized, the music created can be placed in a 3D space - in other words you can have the music feeling like it is coming from all around you when you have your headphones each."

"I think it requires time to get used to how different patterns can be generated and how to achieve more subtle interactions. I hope to spend some more time with this soon."

"Synthpond has recently been given an update to 2.0. Owners of the Iphone can download this wonderful little application at the Apple App Store. Developed by Zach Gage, it works by using orbits to control when a note is played. The sound is similar to “Koan” by SSEYO, a generative music engine developed in 1996 and influenced by Brian Eno."

"Great work! synthPond is a really fun program. Looks great and runs well too. edit: After learning and using synthPond for a few days I would like to update this post. In my opinion this is the only legitimate instrument on the app store. I have seen all of the others and they either don’t run well or are not really an instrument. Noise.IO, BeatMaker, Bloom, etc. Not nearly as good as synthPond. Excellent highly recommended app."
